Ordered my LoneRider MotoBag set well before I took delivery of the 1290 SAS, knowing these bags are hot items! Months later, the bike arrived, and I begun the install. Could not have been simpler, given all the guidance from the website (or YouTube, however you want to find it). Since that day, I’ve rode nearly 700 miles with these bags. They are brilliant, brawny .. and beautiful. They’ve been covered in dirt, washed twice, and they clean up easily and look as good as the day they were installed. With the addition of the 6L MiniBags this weekend, I’m enjoying the easy access to additional space outside the big liter bags. Cannot wait for the Tail Pack to ship in May! How is support? Fantastic! One of the top fixing plates nut recesses stripped out while removing it to make some adjustments … sent a few photos to Anna @ LR and the Kit was on my doorstep in less than a week. I spent a few months looking at all the hard and soft luggage on the market, and I’m glad I went with LoneRider!

The quality of the semi-rigid motobags is second-to-none. They lock down snugly onto the OEM BMW racks so, there is no movement at all once they are locked. In fact, for the first few times, I had to apply a lot of effort to close the latch completely so that it could be locked. Now, it closes/locks more easily. I've always used hard bags in the past so, I'm adapting to opening/closing the soft bags. The only issue that I've had is with the clasp that closes the outer bag. It is so snug that, even after opening/closing it a few times, it was still so tight that I had to insert a screwdriver into the hole to get it to line up enough to fit the lock into it. Finally, I used a file to shave enough of the head of the pin down to allow it to close more easily. The semi-rigid insert is a must-have for me. It works great. I showed these bags to a friend who has the BMW soft bags and now he's ordering the Lone Rider bags.

The bags are great. Makes the R1250 GSA, the swiss army knife of motorcycles, even more versatile. I use the bags for everything, grocery shopping to multiday trips. Other than to clean the bike I leave the bags on all the time. The bags are easy to take on/off and getting them adjusted is fairly straight forward. It's easy to fit everything you need inside and with the contrast lining it makes finding all the stuff you crammed in there easy to find. I've had zero issues with water intrusion even when I get caught in sever storms here in Japan. You won't go wrong with these panniers.

It took some doing to get the quick release system to fit on one side of the bike but once I got it dialed in, it is working great and I love the functionality and they look awesome on my 2018 BMWR1200GSA.

Did a 6,700 km trip around South Africa, of which about 40% were gravel and rocky mountain roads and a few hectic offroad mountain passes. Had heavy rains and a few mud pools for fun. Dropped the bike a couple of times, mostly at walking pace, but one a faster. The bags held up perfectly - no water or dust inside. Two issues though - the main swivel bolt on the clasp of the 38l bag worked itself loose twice. Not good - if one does not notice, the bag will fall off while riding. The harder fall was on the right hand side - the plastic backplate got bent out of shape and the side “hooks” would not fit properly into the pannier frame. The BMW dealer in Cape Town manage to get it straightened out again. It was not a high speed crash, max 30-40 km/hr. Generally I am very happy

Love the Motobags. I have yet to be able to get out (winter in Colorado) but they are light, strong, and easy to load & unload. This seems to be a great balance between the advantages of a rigid and a soft bag.

Cet été, j’ai fais l’achat de MotoBags 31 et 38 litres pour ma BMW R1200GSA et j’ai été très satisfait de la qualité du produit, autant au niveau de la conception, que dans le choix des matériaux.
J’ai également eu droit à un service client exceptionnel! Pour des raisons personnelles , j’ai dû annuler ma première commande. Dès l’instant où ce fût fait, j’ai reçu un remboursement complet sans qu’aucune justification de ma part ne soit exigée. Quelques jours plus tard, j’ai de nouveau passé ma commande sans problème. Lors de la réception de mes MotoBags, bien que les colis est été très bien emballé, une boucle de plastique c’était cassée lors du transport. J’ai fais part de la situation à Lone Rider, qui m’a immédiatement envoyé une pièce de remplacement sans aucune argumentation et sans aucun frais, bien que je sois résident du Québec au Canada.
Sincèrement, je suis plus que satisfait de la qualité de mes MotoBags et de mon expérience avec Lone Rider! Je recommande leurs produits sans hésiter!

Excellent quality and workmanship. Packaging and shipping was fantastic. I would prefer to have complete instructions in with the bags. On-line help is sufficient, however, there are differences based on what version of the Moto bag you have. I am still not sure if the waterproof roll top is two folds or three? The videos show different techniques as the bags are continuously improved and design changes are made. The new quick release system is fantastic. The bags can be put on and taken off quickly and easily. If you have big hands and the key attached to a key fob, it can be a little tight to turn the lock on the 38L, but achievable, no problem on the 31L. The lid lock is a nice idea, however, a little cumbersome to align the pin with the slot, particularly in the dark. The volume is excellent, and the semi-rigid inner-board makes packing and unpacking a breeze. I really like these bags, overall, and would highly recommend them. My Pan American riding friend has been waiting on his hard bags for 5 months, so far. After seeing my Moto bags, he is having buyers remorse. I like the look, the size, the safety and the functionality, great product.

These check so many boxes for me: Top quality, quick release (with no additional mounting brackets), secure, and, maybe most importantly, very handsome. Certainly, it takes a little more effort to open and close them than with hard cases but I'm getting used to it and getting faster. The red drybag inners are a very nice addition. My only tiny quibble is the G clips and straps included for collapsing the bags. If you leave those on with the bags in full semi-rigid mode, no matter how much you try to tuck them into themselves, the G clips aren't reliable and those straps will surely liberate themselves on the road. It's no hassle to just take those straps off and throw them in the bag, though.

Mostly happy with the bags. Could improve the way the excess straps are held in place when riding (Maybe Velcro) The little plastic clips don't keep them from flying in the wind. I even turned the clips around so that the wind wouldn't push them out of the clip to no avail. Also the closure strap that pulls the bag together from side to side that are not adjustable are to long on my 38 liter bag (fine on my 31 liter) so I can't pull in the excess material to make a nice neat closure.

Love these bags. I’ve had hard and soft bags and this is the perfect compromise to me. Hard bags are the most convenient and secure but they have their issues also. They aren’t as forgiving when filtering and even a simple tip over can leave them severely damaged or broken off. They can also lose the waterproof seal
The soft bags I had were a pain to get in an out of and hard to find items when I wanted them. Also hated winding up straps and tucking them in every time
The lone rider bags are very forgiving in a accident and if they get caught on something are far less likely to cause an accident
You can’t smash or permanently bend them like a hard bag.
They pack nice like a hard bag and close and open easier than any soft bags I’ve seen
They are somewhat secure, can’t just grab stuff out and run.
Like I said I over research everything and Lone Rider looked to be the best choice and disappoint in quality or function

This is the 45L MotoBag, an old one that I bought to a friend 2 years ago.
Nothing in the bag was damaged, and I was running at 50km/h after a slide due to petrol on the road.

These bags are really nice and I bought them to replace some hard aluminum bags that I have been riding with for years. At least I'm not worried about my leg getting caught or broken by my luggage any longer.
I will say that installation really took a long time to get right. I guess if you have the factory BMW racks it is supposed to be easy, or already setup for them. I don't know why the fasteners that hold the bag to the backplate are T30 Safety fasteners. It meant that I had to use the slippery little tool supplied instead of one of my own, or a power driver. I can't tell you how many times I dropped that tool during the process. For the non-exhaust side, I managed to find a spot for the latch that only required me to move the latch. For the exhaust side, I had to get out the grinder and get creative.
Now that they are on the bike, I'm glad I don't have to go through that again. It will be fairly easy to take them off and put them back on. It's just the initial setup process that was not easy.
The locking latch is a very robust piece and the cover for the lock tumbler is a nice touch. Getting the lock latched is very hard for me on both. Maybe my rack tubing is a little bit bigger than the stock rack? I also got creative here with the Dremel and ground a little lead-in for the latch plate. It helps but I still need a tool to push down on the latch while turning the key. Oh, that is the other thing, reaching the lock tumbler with the key is also very tight for my motorcycle.
Removing the plastic skeleton from the bags, or reinstalling it, is sort of a wrestling match. I don't plan to do it very often. The velcro on both sides and just the amount of it, make it very hard to pull. You have to pull it from the skeleton piece and then pull the skeleton piece from another velcro slab on the bag. If the skeleton is out, getting the flap off the side of the bag is pretty rough.
Opening/closing of the bags takes a lot more time and effort than hard bags but probably about the same as any other roll-top system. For the added safety of a semi-soft bag, I think it is worth the time/effort.
There are some little hooks that are supposed to hold the extra strap length on the straps that hold the roll-top down. I didn't find any orientation of these that would keep this excess in place. I ended up feeding it back through the clip and under the rest of the strap and tucked into the side of the bag. Kind of hard to explain.

I love this panniers, they looks very nice ! Nice shape, and a lot of space . I just tried them in off road . They did very well ! Waterproof and strong . I had to pull my bike from the hill couple ft. on side on one of the LR panniers and I was surprised that there was no damage !
The only think About those panniers: you can see scratches at them . It’s just because it’s not from same material as Mosko .
But I was able to put there much more stuff then you can put into Mosko panniers.

I think if I were to purchase this again, I would just get the same size for both sides. You could pack smarter and distribute weight proportionally and get more potential/better use out of it in lieu of going with one side smaller, or larger than the other side. The offset does have a major difference in appearance. These bags are top notch quality and the included quick removal setup did take me some tweaking to get perfect, but these bags are sweet - very sweet. The internal dry bags are awesome for packing. Love the molle straps, you just can’t have enough of them, they should be everywhere.

By far the most sleek and smoothest set of moto bags I've ever had the pleasure of using. It's just so apparent that they thought of every possible way a rider would want to use these bags. Seriously, there were so many ways to strap down my gear on rugged, off-road terrain that every time I faced a new challenge, I was always surprised with how easy I could re-arrange my gear to work with Lonerider's gear.
Nothing was too cramped and there was never a point when I felt like I had to sacrifice my space or my time with these bags on the road. The best motocamping experience I've ever had, hands-down.

I like the feel and look of the bags and how they can fit lot of luggage! I can actually fit my helmet, boots, jacket, pants and gloves in the 31L + 38L MotoBags which is perfect as you can lock the bags. What I didn’t like is that it was not a “quick fix” to mount them to the bike the first time. That said, unfortunately they did not fit my pannier rails so I had to drill some new holes and move all the bits to fit the “quick release” system. They work well now once the adjustments have been done! Also, love how I can “squeeze” the bags together when they’re empty, however they are a bit awkward without the “expansion thing” on the inside - which does not fit if you want to minimize the bags during parts of your ride. Also, I cannot ride with them expanded all the time as the bike get so wide that it becomes challenging to fit through traffic when necessary.

4 stars because although the bags are mostly well thought out, the mounting hardware on the inside of the bags that attach them to the metal carrier plate has a major design flaw.
The inside plastic horizontal bars have recesses that are meant to retain the nuts of the bolts that enter the bag from the outside.
Plastic to hold metal parts in place is a pretty bad design choice. What happened to me was that one of the bolts was put on so tightly at the assembly plant that it was impossible to apply enough torque to loosen it. And you need to do that if you have to adjust the metal carrier plate.
There was no way to get to the nut with another socket to hold it in place while trying to unscrew it from the other side. The only way to get it off was to break the plastic bar in half and then using dremel to get the bolt off the bag.
To me that's both QA and design issue - I've notified LR and they helped by sending the replacement plastic part free of charge but without the bolt I had to damage to get it off. No big deal but I would prefer more attention to detail.
Overall, the bags are good but I'd replace the plastic bars with a strip of aluminium, which is both lighter, stronger and allows access to both the nut and the bolt at the same time.

I originally had the BMW vario cases for a few months. Then I got these. I love them. 100% waterproof and dustproof. They load more and looks way better. Easy to attach items on the outside of the Motobags. They are semi-rigid so they are safer to use. Overall very happy with the product.

Je viens d'installer le kit de démontage rapide, c'était la touche qui manquait j'en suis super satisfait et je recommande sans hésiter. C'est un investissement qui vaux le coup!

My wife had a motorcycle accident, the bike rolled over and went off the road into a stony embankment. I had installed the motobags on the motorcycle and these cases are simply unimaginable:
- they probably saved my wife from serious leg injuries.
- they protected the bike, which would have suffered much more damage without the motobags
- they are only slightly scratched and the Inner board is a bit deformed.
- we were able to get back on the road immediately with 100% functional and still waterproof cases without any repair of the cases and without delay.
In short, if we were not yet convinced by the motobags, this unfortunate experience is really the ultimate argument for your product! Thank you for the security you provide!

The bags are exactly as advertised. I have not been on a trip yet but I am looking forward to the first one. Mounting was fairly easy, even solo. Hard to find good instructions for mounting. You tube video was dark and not very helpful. The quick release that is coming out will be a big plus. Shipping was messed up but Lone Rider made good on the mistake.

I have a year under my belt with adventure riding and decided to get serious. When I upgraded to a newer model bike, I decided on the semi-ridged style panniers from Lone Rider. I am not a full time off road rider and I believe this system hits the mark.
I was quite impressed when I started unpacking . The thought that went into giving everything you need to install including some extra parts just in case. The swag was a nice touch.
The final thing I want to say is how the Lone Rider engineers are transparent with development of new products. Facebook, YouTube, and social boards. They ask for feedback and walk you through all the work they have been putting in on a product before it gets released.

Overall I love the lone rider bags and would highly recommend them. Ordering and customer service (except phone, which was useless) was great via email. Installation was not easy and not as straight forward as I have hoped. I have the BMW F850GSA which comes with the BMW rack. According to Lonerider the bags should just bolt on. Well, for the left side (non exhaust side) that did work, for the right side (exhaust side) it was impossible to do so without the taking the rack off the bike. In general I think it should be recommended to disassemble the rack from the bike to mount the cases. Also on the exhaust side the BMW rack comes with welded on receiver plates which are needed for the BMW Al cases. The Lonerider mounting slots and bracket did not allow for a good way to mount the bag in the right spot and orientation. I ended up cutting and grinding off the upper front receiver plate, once done the bag mounted perfect.

This is my second set of Motobags! products are terrific...but their customer services and delivery of products leaves a lot to be desired. They seem to need to improve their logistics and order management! Took over 4 weeks to get my order and that too incomplete.

I love these Motobags—really high quality. You can see that they made this to last. The 2 changes that I hope to see in the near future is the Quick release system and a more straightforward mechanism to close the bags. The whole in the metal lock is to narrow. Very difficult to close the bag. But they are really really good looking. I recommend it.

Je viens juste d'installer les motobags, et je vais attendre de les tester en voyage avant de donner un avis, mais ce n'est que du bonheur ces valises. Elles sont spacieuses et on ressent tout de suite la qualité de l'hypalon et des fermetures. Ce sont vraiment des valises faites pour les baroudeurs.
