We are 2 ups, recently drove around in Iraq. Traffic is immense. Early in the morning we ride nice and easy in our lane. From the nowhere came a minivan, high speed wanted to use the exit lane just in front of us. He hit us from the rear and side. Actually you could feel how the bags damped the impact, and softened it down. Somehow I managed to keep the bike upright, and stopped safely.
Another occasion happened in Oman, we laid down the bike on a sand dune. My foot under the bag, and wife on the top of everything. My foot was not crushed.( zoom on the picture you can clearly see the impact)

Good quality bags, though they are prone to getting caught on things and if you don't have your bag set up perfectly for your rack, they may bend the mounting plate, though it is easy enough to bend back.
Also, it would be nice to see spare fasteners and such come with the bags for install.

It was supposed to fit 2022 GSA right out of the box but needed a lot of adjustments. Then it wouldn't lock. After looking closely, the weld on the GSA frame needed filed down so latch would close all the way. The 38 l bag fits very solid on the frame. This 31 l has a lot of wiggle once mounted and locked. I don't know how to correct that.

Very hard to clamp and lock on stock 2022 bmw GSA racks…once I figured out to adjust locks they worked..also figured out to adjust top clasp so they closed to put a lock on…there should be much better instructions…had to research on YouTube to get it all together….certainly not an easy attachment….all working now..

The metal fitting that closes and locks the lid is too tight, so it's hard to match when the luggage is small, so it's difficult to lock the padlock. I think it's better to have a little more clearance.

The Lone Rider Motobags have been a dream realized for me.
My previous luggage setup was an entry level rackless system. It served its purpose, but I was tired of constantly struggling to pack and always being the last one in the group to hit the road, on top of the frustration of being cluttered and unorganized. I was ready for the investment into a premium luggage system. Not only does Lone Rider offer top of the line materials and craftsmanship in their products, they offer the peace of mind in knowing that when you arrive to camp, it'll be a joy to simply grab the inner bags and unpack, while the rest of your group hopes their belongings didn't get beat up too bad inside their soft luggage. These bags are truly a godsend, and an absolute must have for not only someone who values the convenience of hard luggage and the safety of soft bags, but someone who also values organization. I would highly recommend for anyone looking to invest in a premium adventure travel luggage system.
On a side note, there are no pannier rack options that the QRS will work with the Suzuki DR650 (latch is too big for the clearance). Luckily, Lone Rider included the fixed system so I could enjoy the bags until I have time to engineer and weld some 18mm tubing together to make the QRS work. Would love to see the development of multiple latch options that can fit a wider variety of tube sizes in the future. Don't mind the Mosko bag in my included picture, my Ranger Tank Bag Mini is on the way.

Product quality and function serve as promised. I am a new owner and am waiting to see how they hold up against the desert climate here in Las Vegas NV. That said, the customer service is excellent. I had a few hiccups when ordering because I chose two 38L bags as oppposed to a 38 and 31L - so the side on the muffler, didn't fit. Anna in customer service squared me away and I had my replacement in hand and installed before long. They look great!

This is a quick update on my previous review; The metal closure latches are super easy to close now that I have figured it out better. If you Roll the top 3 times (vs 2 in one of the videos) and tuck it into the latch on the lower closure, it almost auto lines up and closes easy and secure. I am also liking the lock better, the smooth end makes it easy to slip into the molly loops to secure when open and don't want another key to keep track of. So, love everything about the bags! Am wishing there was a way to secure the inner bag top to the main bag so in dry weather it would be like just opening one bag.

I actually needed to move the plastic guides out of the holes in to the slides
And to take the screws out of the bags to detach from the plate takes much longer than advertised

Great item overall, I had a few observations witch I explained in my other review,
But I do believe this is one of the best soft bags in the market since their installation brackets make very easy to install/remove the bags when needed. I do use this feature very often since I like to ride my motorcycle on my way to work and during those days I like to remove everything from the bike, during the rides/weekends I do install the bags.

Very good set of bag, really useful, durable, rigid enough to maintain the shape even when riding at 80mph.
The only observation I has is that even that I bought the specific set for my motorcycle I did struggle with a couple things:
A- Installing both bags was a little challenging since I had to force them down to be able to close the locking mechanism.
B- The plaques to lock the bags with a lock (could be the included one or any other, I did used the included one) have a mechanism to align the holes of both plaques, how ever I realize that these ones are not wide enough or properly machined so you do not have any room for in proper alignment. I did ended up using the length of the lock arm to lock the bag.
C- The screws that hold one of the plaques that help to lock the closed bags came loose and I almost loose one of the plaques. Short term solution during the ride where of course the use of zip ties, when I got home from the ride, the bags comes with extra screws, I did installed them to the plaque back again but this time I did use loctite blue to fix in place the screws and give them resistance to vibrations, meaning prevent this problem of happening again (hopefully).

Great fixation system and extremely well built overall. Quite some work to assemble and fit but the installation/adjust video on the LoneRider Youtube channel is quite thorough. I personally like theses way better than hardcase, semi-rigid luggage are my new favorites for the function, safety and forgiveness off road!

Installation instruction video was very helpful, take a good amount of time to assembler but it really worth it. Really like that the bags are easy and quick to unmount and mount on the rack. Built quality and materials of what the bags are made from feel very tough. I won't go back to hardcase now that I've uses thoses semi-rigid bags.

I purchased the 31 and 38-liter pair of Lone Rider semi-rigid motorcycle bags with a Touratech pannier rack for my Tiger 900 Rally Pro. My first trip was a 5,400-mile tour of the western United States including the Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica to Seattle, plus Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming and Arizona.
The bags were as advertised — strong, durable, roomy, waterproof, secure and good looking to boot. I would recommend them to adventure riders who travel long distances on varied terrain and weather conditions.
I was a bit disappointed (and surprised) by the weight of the bags when empty. Sometimes it seemed like the bags weighed as much as the things I put in them. That said, however, they travelled well on the racks on my bike and did not seem to affect the handling all that much.
As I said, I would recommend these bags for their quality construction, durability, safety and security.

A hassle making them fit. They are not ready to go out of the box. Not a big deal but was time consuming to break them all down and put back together correctly. I also feel they are bit of a hassle to use as opposed to a metal bag but again that’s not a negative on lone rider just a byproduct of the design of any soft bag. These in my opinion could lose a couple bucks on the cost.
Now as for function they are fine and will probably last me a good long time.

Purchased my LoneRider Motobags a few weeks ago (2x31L), and just finished a 10-day, 4200 km road trip, incl. a few sections of each of the WABDR and the IDBDR. They're awesome!
Perfect bit of kit. They work great, and yes, bent rather than breaking my leg/ankle when I got my foot in the wrong place while flailing my way through a turn on loose gravel! More importantly, they're clearly bombproof as advertised. Put 'em on the bike and go think about something else. They look awesome on the GS too!
Finally: lots of spare bolts, brackets, nylon washers, cool ratchet wrench, neck tube, stickers, red key chain... I'd buy 'em again just for the accessory pack!

I spent way too much time researching a set of bags for my Pan America. These hit all the marks as I decided not to go with rigid panniers.
I bought them on a Black Friday sale and feel it was a great value. It took several months to fill the entire order due to supply chain issues.
Was it worth the wait? Hell yeah!!
These take some practice learning how to use them. So does every other piece of gear. Once I was comfortable with the open close procedure, it was easy. Took some time to adjust to my Touratech racks, but, well worth it. I am glad I had to adjust the backing plate. It made me more comfortable with how the system worked.
Capacity is great. The inside is easy to pull gear in and out. The construction and materials are far superior to any other soft side bags I have used.
The videos on the website help greatly when making adjustments and the initial set up.

The quality of the bags is really amazing. And it looks good on the bike. However it was a bit of struggle to fit the bags on my BMW1250GS's OEM racks. I couldn't do it so I had BMW technicians sort it out. They also had to keep the bike for two days to make it fit perfectly. The problem was that the latch were not closing properly. Even after filing the weld bumps on the racks, it's still bit of a struggle to open and close the latch. I wish it wasn't so difficult. It cost me extra money to have the bag fit the racks. But yet, I love the product.

I bought the aluminum panniers originally because I wanted something to fit on my stock racks and didn’t want to add an adapter plate. I kept the aluminum top case for my helmet. The Motobags are huge and fit right on the BMW R1250GSA racks. Love the look and features of the Motobags not to mention I’m not banging my knee on the aluminum panniers any more. Great job Lone Rider.

They look cool, they seem to be very tough, but I really DO NOT like the padlock shackles, which are next to impossible to get aligned so that the padlock can be used. The shackles (upper with tab, lower with keyhole slot) work by mating together via a keyhole slot and tab. To make that happen, the two pieces must be perfectly parallel, otherwise, you will struggle to get them mated, and then when you do get them mated, to separate the two is extremely difficult and frustrating. I've gotten to the point that I simply don't use them because they make the bags so difficult to enter. All other aspects of the bags nice, but opening and closing the bags should be easy, and struggling with the shackles is anything but easy. My analogy is something like buying a really nice car, but you can't get the door closed, and when you do, you can't the door back open again! Maybe I'm missing something which makes the shackles easier to use?

I purchased both panniers for my Africa Twin. Couldn’t be more happy with them. I have more space then I need now. The muffler side bag comes with a spacer on it. Which wasn’t required for my bike. Once I sorted that out it was smooth sailing. I was so happy with the bags I purchased the front 6L bags, as well as the handle bar bag.

Nach unserer Reise durch Slovenien und dem Friaul bin ich sehr zufrieden mit dem Lone Rider Gepäcksystem.
Weder Wasser noch Staub fand den Weg ins Gepäck, obwohl wir Starkregen und Hagel abbekamen und staubige Kammstrassen befuhren.
Super sind die Innentaschen, so bleibt das Zelt trocken und sauber.
auch die Mini Bags sind absolut Wasserdicht.
Ich bin sehr happy damit, das Thema Gepäcksystem ist somit abgeschlossen.
Die Dinger halten ewig und sind ihren Preis wert.

When I received my Moto Bags I was very impressed by the heavy duty quality of the bags. But that is 'look and feel' only. Actual proof of quality came a short while later.... I took them with my GSA to Scotland and on my first day took a fall with my bike, for the first time in about half a million kilometers. Doing about 40km/h in a sharp bend of the road in a split second I wandered off the asphalt, into loose stones, and the bike fell over and skidded along the road for about 10 meters, turning 180 degrees while skidding. My GSA rested on the crashbars around the cylinder and on my right MotoBag. The crashbar was heavely scratched, but not so the Motobag: just a few scuffs, even though it had slid over the tarmac for the entire sliding distance! Same as my riding gear. so I dusted of, and with the help of my friends lifted the bike - and continued on our way. Later on we had the mother of all rainshowers for a full hour, testing the waterproof state of my bags: they were fine :-)
In short: love them !!

These Motobags are the best. Totally uncomplicated to install. Right out of the box they fitted perfectly. The great thing is that when you want to switch to de hard paniers you don't have to uninstall any parts of the Motobags. You can switch in seconds if you want. Also the Overlanderbag and the 6L minibags are a musthave. I also had the headlight protector installed and it is a beautiful design and looks great with the orange running lights of the latest BMW model R1250GS. All in all I'm very satisfied. In about a week from now I'm traveling to Romania and do some off-road and camping. Oh yeah almost forgot, I also bought the Lone Rider ADV tent and it is a great tent. I have a couple >1000km trips with the MotoBags under the belt now and they have been up to the task and then some so far. Dust and water are kept at bay while out on the road or trail. A few dirt naps haven’t fizzed on them either. I’ve even managed to snag a few compliments after fielding some questions from fellow riders. If you’re on the fence and considering these, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Mounting on the Givi frame (Givi One-Fit Rapid Release Tubular Side Case Holder Cam-Side Monokey - PLOR7710CAM) was very difficult to get right. I don't recommend them on those frames.
